MATI KLARWEIN

Was born April 9, 1942 in Hamburg, Germany. In 1934 he emigrated to Israel, where is father won the competition to construct Israel’s Parliament Building – The Knesset – in Tel Aviv.  At 17 he moved to Paris, studying at the Academie Julian, the Beaux Arts, as well as with Fernand Leger. From 1952-1954 he apprenticed with Ernst Fuchs in Vienna, He was a friend of Salvador Dali, and obtained French citizenship with the help of Mrs. Andre Malroux.  Mati gained international recognition and superstar status with his paintings “Annunciation”, which appeared as an album cover for Santana, and “Live Evil” another album cover for Miles Davis.  His masterpiece, the “Aleph” Sanctuary”, is a cubic room containing 68 paintings, including the “Tree of Life”, its cupola Mati’s “Mandala”.
